Coffee
Coffea arabica

Very attractive small evergreen treeĀ  2-5m tall. Ornamental glossy dark green foliage with clusters of fragrant white flowers in summer. The coffee bean containing berries are bright red when ripe and are ready to harvest June to August.

For best results, plant in a warm sunny site in rich, moist, free draining soil enriched with manure or well decomposed compost, protect from strong winds and mulch well. Frost and cold sensitive. Prune plants after harvest to keep them manageable.

Roast the beans to make you own home made coffee or coat the roasted beans in chocolate for a decadent treat. Can also be grown indoors as an attractive feature plant or grown as an attractive hedge.
