Attractive evergreen tree to around 8 meters producing large crops of red to pink skinned, seedless bell shaped fruit. Fruit are around the size of a golf ball with a refreshing sweet but mild flavour with a high water content. Large glossy dark green foliage and beautiful white flowers make this tree highly ornamental.
For best results grow in fertile, moist soils in full sun to part shade. Mulch well and improve soil with well rotted compost. Water well with a good soaking in hot periods. Fertilise in spring with a natives fertiliser. Sensitive to frost so best grown in a warm and protected area.
Fruit can be eaten fresh from the tree or used in a salad. It can also be used in jams to bulk out other fruit.
